Our guests just love this place!

Whether it's staying in the gîtes, walking in the Razès countryside or visiting the legendary Cathar castles, there's something here for everyone and this is what they have to say:

“Thank you so much for a lovely holiday; we both really enjoyed the time spent in the gîte, wandering round the beautiful countryside and seeing so many historical places. Thank you for all your helpful advice and information.” Alyson Evans

“We have enjoyed walking the village surrounds – so quiet apart from the birds, cuckoos and crickets. The wayside flowers are really special and orchids abound.” Ruth and Mike, Cheshire

“You have a lovely retreat for so many people to enjoy. We love the area, the hospitality, the gîte and the wine.” Sarah and Stuart

“…thank you again for the treasured experiences of the Razès and for sharing your beautiful soul journeys with me.” Pauline O’Callaghan, Sydney

“The short walk to La Pène and the lake let us take in the real beauty of this landscape.” Bill and Phil Flaherty, Colorado

"I was travelling alone and for more than 2 weeks razès-gîtes was my home base. Before my arrival the contact with Jo made me feel really welcome. During my stay I made beautiful trips to castles, cathedrals and I enjoyed the most spectacular views. I never felt lonely in these days. Jo and Bob have the talent to feel when you need privacy, but also they are there for a good conversation about the sense and nonsense of life. Thank you, your presence and your gîte made my pilgrimage an unforgettable experience!” Monique Journee, Holland

“We arrived after a rather hairy journey through some very unseasonal downpours. As the fields were being washed away before our eyes, Jo arrived to rescue us when our courage and sense of direction in near-nil visibility failed. The next day the skies were clear, the sun shone and the beauty of the countryside was all around. Armed with excellent suggestions from Bob as to how to get the most from our short time, we set off and enjoyed two days of exploring the immediate area. Lakes, hills, distant snow-capped mountains and acres upon acres of sunflowers in full bloom did much to whet our appetites for a return at an early date.

“The gîte was all we needed, with a charming and imaginatively designed garden just outside and accessed from a communal lounge/playroom/garden kitchen/small library room two doors along and ten steps away from our entrance. Bravo Bob and bravo Jo, the perfect hosts. Unobtrusive, friendly, helpful and wise. We would hope that our paths cross again soon. And finally to Mr or Mrs Thinking-Of-Staying-at-Bob-and-Jo's, all I can say is stop thinking and go for it.”

"Wonderful place, nice and helpful owners. Beautiful surroundings and peaceful garden.” Inge K

“The very well-equipped gîte was sparklingly clean on arrival, with a warm welcome from the owners, who are always very friendly and helpful with any queries. Comprehensive suggestions and literature provided for all local facilities, including routes for walks and large scale maps etc. Jo & Bob were always ready to tailor make suggestions for specific enquiries. We particularly enjoyed being able to walk through beautiful, unspoiled & varied countryside right from the front door. A very good centre for the Pyrennees, Cathar country & Carcassonne. Can’t wait for our next visit.” Peter Freeman

“You have thought of everything to prepare people for a great stay… this is a very warm, moving place and Jo and Bob’s vibes seep through.” Louise and Nimrod, Brighton

“My wife and I were looking for some rustic rural French charm, but with all the mod cons of a modern holiday home - and boy did we find it here! Set in a peaceful little village, with boule pitch, quaint church and square, and stunning views across the surrounding countryside, the Gîte itself certainly looked the part from the outside, all white stone and old wood. That did not prepare us for what we found inside and in the gardens however. For the owners and hosts Bob and Jo it is clearly a labour of love - from the furniture, to the log stove, to the beautifully kept gardens, everything is done to make you feel at home and relaxed, but that little bit pampered too. Everything is done to such a high standard here, with so much attention to detail. The perfect place to come back to after a hard (or not so hard) day's visiting the region - and there really is so much to see, either on your bike or by car (we did both, and can highly recommend both). And great place for groups too, with a table tennis table and large bbq area. It was certainly our holiday of the year, and we will be booking again!” David & Sarah

“We especially enjoyed relaxing in the gardens.” Margot and John, North Wales

“The gîte itself is certainly the most well-equipped we have ever come across and more than we needed.” Norman and Kay, Bridgewater

“Our first time in this area and we’ve loved every minute of it. Need a rest to recover from the walking and climbing – but all worth the effort.” Vince and Lynne Barry, Leicestershire

“Spectacular views of the Pyrenees, Corbières and Montagne Noire from walks under clear blue sky.” Liz and Peter Freeman

“The beautiful rolling hills and countryside are well worth seeing and the wild flowers, eagles, trees and bird sounds are a real lift to the soul.” Paul & Izzy, Fife

“This is a great place for visiting the area from Carcassonne to Foix and south to Montségur – well worth the climb.” John & Jenny, Luton

“The gîtes are ideally suited to so many different experiences whatever your taste – mountains, the Med, historical sites or markets. Not to be missed - the Gorges de Galamus for natural wonders and a scary drive or walk.” Lin and Peter Kidd, Isle of Wight

“The scenery around here is something to die for.” Laurie and Mandy, Norwich

“My wife and I, and extended family, have stayed at Razès. Bob and Jo are attentive hosts and great fun. The accommodation is comfortable situated in a lovely quiet village and the area is just superb. Nearby are lovely market towns with no shortage of restaurants. The medieval town of Carcassonne and the Pyrenees are but a short hop away. It is no exaggeration to say we were always upset at leaving.” Mike Setterfield

“We booked at Razes expecting a quiet small village where we could relax after extended trip to other parts of Europe. This is exactly what we found. We walked and cycled around the area, drove to visit Carcassonne and Mirepoix both interesting towns to visit and tracked down Cathar castles. The accommodation was comfortable and well equipped. Jo and Bob were interesting people and ideal hosts who helped us make the best of our visit. Sitting in the garden in the evening sipping the excellent local wine is difficult to beat.” Roger Scott
